The Shankly Hotel is no stranger to delicious food, as our talented chefs create sumptuous dishes every single day for our guests at The Bastion Bar & Restaurant. And so it was our pleasure to welcome Michelin star chef Nigel Haworth to our Liverpool restaurant for one night only.
Nigel Haworth, the co-owner of the North Cote boutique hotel in Lancashire, took over our kitchen for the evening. However, Nigel was not alone, as he was supported by students and apprentices from The City of Liverpool College, who delivered food and service under Nigel’s guidance.
The evening was the perfect opportunity for Nigel to demonstrate his gastronomic brilliance at Northcote, which strives to set the benchmark for fine dining across the UK. The gourmet menu offered Just Cooked Treacle Salmon, with pickled ginger, coriander and lime & ginger marshmallow, as well as aged beef sirloin, hand cut tartar, duck liver crumb, caramelised shallot and watercress. The wine selection was also selected by Northcote’s co-owner and Director of Wines, Craig Bancroft, perfectly pairing wine with the menu. Dinner guests quickly took to social media to praise the impressive menu, which included bramley apple trifle sorbet with a Horlicks mousse. A stunning end to a stunning menu.
It was our honour and privilege to welcome such a world-renowned chef into our kitchen, with Nigel delivering an impressive speech on his culinary expertise for our guests to enjoy. Liverpool FC legend John Aldridge will once again return to The Bastion Bar & Restaurant. This time to offer a pre and post match analysis of the Manchester City vs Liverpool FC game on Saturday 21st November at the Etihad Stadium – and will be the first meeting since the departure of Raheem Sterling to Man City.
Aldo will happily provide an insight into the match, which passionate LFC fans won’t want to miss. He’s also be taking part in a Q&A, so you can ask him a question ahead of the big game, such as his opinion of new manager Jurgen Klopp or even his opinion on Raheem Sterling’s departure.
For just £19.95 per person, you will be guaranteed a seat at our Liverpool restaurant and bar to watch the match, which also includes a meals with a drink and an exclusive football experience with John Aldridge. During half-time, John will gladly pose for photographs with fans and sign autographs. Other LFC legends who have appeared at The Bastion Bar & Restaurant include Terry McDermott and Alan Kennedy.
You can choose between the aromatic Thai Green Chicken and Lemon Grass Curry, which features fresh lime, chilli, prawn crackers and fragrant rice, or you can opt for our award-winning The Shankly Burger, which is served on a brioche bun with streaky bacon, mature cheddar cheese, Batavia lettuce, dill pickle, beef tomato, home-made relish and hand-cut chips.
