Who Are Hoffenheim?

Sure to be a tough contest for the Reds, Hoffenheim finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season, two points off Borussia Dortmund in third and five points adrift of runners up RB Leipzig.

Their coach, Julian Nagelsmann, is also the youngest Bundesliga head coach in the league’s history and was linked to succeeding Arsene Wenger when the Frenchman’s future at Arsenal looked uncertain last season.

Roberto Firmino’s former team, Hoffenheim will be a challenge for Liverpool, however the past week has seen the preparation for this season focused on Germany – Liverpool emphatically defeated both Hertha Berlin and Bayern Munich.

So, we’re feeling hopeful.

The much-loved Merseyside Derby will take place on 9th December and Everton will travel to Anfield to take on the mighty reds. Liverpool’s away derby won’t happen until April 7th, but as always, there will be an atmosphere of excitement and friendly competition in the city on derby day.

Klopp’s team will also be looking forward to returning to the Champion’s League after three years away. To join their premier league rivals in the tournament, they will have to negotiate a play-off tie.

Meanwhile, Everton will face Stoke in their first match of the Premier League and then Manchester City a week later.

The blues finished 7th in the table in the 16/17 season and will be keen to overtake their Merseyside rivals, who finished in a cool 4th.

After many rumours and much speculation, Rooney’s return to Everton was confirmed in early July and sent the football world into a frenzy. The football forward began his career at Everton in 2004, scoring 17 goals in 77 games in his original time at Goodison Park.

After moving to Manchester United, he honed his skills and went on to become Captain of the national team. Rooney played a total of 559 times for United and scored 253 goals.

As the football season approaches and Rooney is given the full pitch to test out and brush off the dust on Merseyside soil, Liverpool waits with bated breath to see what’s in store for the blues now their prodigal son has returned.
