There’s been a real buzz surrounding The Shankly Hotel Preston since we announced the development. Costing around £15m, our stunning new hotel, which faces into the Flag Market in Preston City Centre, will provide a luxury experience to hundreds of guests. We’ve been working tirelessly to ensure that this restoration project exceeds all expectations once opened, as well as engaging with the community right here in Preston.
So, we thought we’d update you on the progress we’ve made thus far.
Shankly Hotel Set to Soon
Our director – and descendant of Bill Shankly himself – Chris Shankly has released further details regarding the opening: “The intention is to do a partial opening of some rooms,” while Lawrence Kenwright, the owner of Signature Living, tweeted a sneak peek of the progress being made inside the building back in January: “Work is underway at Shankly Preston – not long to go now.”
Our hotel will have 65 beautiful rooms, a first-class restaurant for fine dining, a high-class bar and even a luxurious spa. We have already had an overwhelming number of requests for bookings, magical weddings and conferences as far ahead as 2023.
We can’t wait to share this real labour of love with you. We hope that our sensitive yet sophisticated restoration of a heritage building in Preston will impress local residents and tourists alike.
The Most Amazing Party Venues
As The Shankly Hotel Preston nears completion, we are so elated to show you around our luxurious party venues, be that Elysium, the Lilywhite Suite or our amazing restaurant: The Carriage.
Bringing something completely new and exciting to Preston, Elysium is a spacious and wonderous venue that features quaint ornaments and is a lavish events space.
Moreover, named in honour of Preston North End’s famous nickname, The Lilywhite Suite in The Shankly Hotel Preston will almost certainly impress. This gorgeous venue, which doubles as a conference and wedding space, is laden with flowers.
Nestled in the heart of the hotel, The Carriage is set to be one of the best restaurants in Preston. The restaurant will be themed around a 1930s First Class rail carriage and will combine rich and luxurious furnishings with a modern twist. When speaking about the restaurant, Chris Shankly exclaimed: “We’re so excited to bring the Shankly brand to Preston and give the people something they’ve never seen before.”
Teaming up with Sir Tom Finney Soccer Centre
The Shankly Hotel Preston has also began sponsoring the Sir Tom Finney Soccer Centre, building on our direct links with the beautiful game. The soccer centre helps to develop and improve the community across Preston and was started by former Greater Manchester Police chief superintendent Peter Mason and his wife Kathleen. On the subject of the Shankly Preston’s involvement, Mr Mason said: “It is a great accolade for the charity, that a new business in Preston, one that carries the name of a football legend, has seen fit to sponsor us.”
Chris Shankly, who is very excited about the new partnership, said, “We are absolutely delighted to be sponsoring the Sir Tom Finney Preston Soccer Centre. This sponsorship is of particular significance to us because of the importance that both Sir Tom and my Grandfather attached to the support of grassroots football in the community.”
He continued: “It was the very essence and embodiment of their respective values that each held dearly, namely that football should be accessible to all regardless of ability, social class, creed, or age.”
We hope that working closely with the Finney family helps in making The Shankly Hotel Preston, which will also feature a permanent exhibition to Finney himself, one of the top hotels and experiences in the UK.
