Joyce Browne

In 1974 for the cup final against Newcastle I wrote a letter to Shanks to make him aware of my opinion of the poor ticket allocation to true fans for the cup game in response he sent a cup final ticket which my husband was delighted with so much so we went to his home wanting to pay him for the ticket. His wife Nessie opened the door to say Bill was in the bathroom he then came down in a vest with a towel round his neck and remembered reading my letter we couldn’t thank him enough for the ticket and are still to this day overwhelmed by his gesture, what a man!
