This week, we announced our plans to go ahead with one of our most exciting projects: building a rooftop slide to raise money for the homeless.
At The Shankly Hotel, our charity partner is Liverpool’s leading homeless charity The Whitechapel Centre. And we’re aiming to raise £500,000 a year for the organisation.
Liverpool locals and tourists can look forward to an exhilarating tubular slide for public use, with money going to Whitechapel.
The exciting slide is expected to spiral down from The Shankly Hotel’s fantastic rooftop terrace, which regularly plays host to vibrant events in the city.
We’re planning for the tube to feature a clear roof to offer riders amazing views of Liverpool as they whoosh towards the ground.
The terrace itself showcases a sensational view across Liverpool, so we can only imagine the thrill of sliding down the city from the top.
This unique addition to the hotel is expected to be of a revised design, following our original plans for the project back in 2015.
The new design wraps three times around the pole, creating a more relaxed experience for riders as they take in an incredible view of Liverpool.
With a vast range of visitors to the Shankly and its Bastion Bar & Restaurant, we’re sure the slide will attract countless Liverpool locals as well as tourists.
There simply isn’t anything like this in Liverpool, so we have no doubt that it will prove a huge hit with both big kids and the little ones!
We’re hugely proud to become more involved with The Whitechapel Centre, Liverpool’s leading homeless and housing charity.
Whitechapel does an array of amazing work for the city – the team offer a helping hand to rough sleepers, those who live in hostels and people struggling to manage accommodation.
Their mission is to offer routes out of homelessness and back into the community, taking a practical approach that can takes individual stories into consideration.
The charity operates an Open Access drop-in for rough sleepers to get breakfast, a shower and make full use of laundry facilities.
Open 365 days a year, the work this incredible charity does is priceless to the city, so we couldn’t be more dedicated to playing our part.
