Liverpool boasts a £4.5 billion visitor economy entering 2019 and the city’s tourism industry is responsible for 53,500 jobs. The Shankly Hotel is proud to contribute towards these impressive statistics and are looking forward to being recognised for the contribution they make to the industry.
This year The Shankly Hotel have been shortlisted by the LEP Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards and are nominated to win Hotel of the Year.
Since the doors opened at The Shankly Hotel in 2015, we have worked hard to bring a new type of themed accommodation to the city of Liverpool.
The unique concept, a Shankly themed hotel, has proven to be a great success, drawing in visitors to Liverpool from all over the globe.
The Shankly Hotel has proven to be a popular choice for visiting football fans, as well as a family-friendly hotel which welcomes in groups of all sizes.
In 2016, The Shankly Hotel was lucky enough to be nominated by LEP Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards under the category, Newcomer of the Year and won.
Since then The Shankly Hotel has gone on to become a well-known name in Liverpool tourism, and off the back of such success are taking the concept and opening a new hotel Preston, Lancashire.
Soon The Shankly Preston will open its doors in the city that once welcomed Bill Shankly as a player for the mighty Preston North End. The interest surrounding the project has already caused quite a stir in the local area and people are looking forward to seeing what this latest Shankly themed venture will bring.
Now almost 4 years down the line since opening their doors, The Shankly Liverpool are looking forward to potentially being awarded Liverpool’s hotel of the year for 2019, ahead of opening our second Shankly Hotel in Preston.
The reasons for our nomination can no doubt be attributed to guest satisfaction as well as our dynamic approach to providing one of a kind accommodation experiences, for our guests and people of the city.
From the luxurious hotel rooms with indulgent facilities, such as double jacuzzi baths and flat screen TV’s, to the amazing regular events hosted within The Garden of Eden, The Shankly delivers something different to each and every guest who enters.
The Shankly Hotel was one of the first Autism Friendly hotels in Liverpool and has helped numerous young people’s dreams come true through professional Liverpool apprenticeship placement schemes.
Having recently introduced Live Sessions as well, The Shankly Hotel can now count itself among the numerous live music venues that support Liverpool’s musical heritage.
Showcasing unknown, local Liverpool acts alongside established bands who hail from the city, Live Sessions have given both its guests and residents of Liverpool a chance to see what the Liverpool music scene is all about.
In short, The Shankly Hotel delivers more than just a place to stay, giving back to the city’s economy in so many ways, makes The Shankly so much more than just a hotel.
In May 2019, an elegant awards ceremony will take place in Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral. One of the city’s most impressive, historic landmarks, the Cathedral’s grand interior provides the perfect backdrop for such a grand ceremony.
In previous years the stunning St George’s Hall has hosted the event, welcoming representatives from Liverpool’s shortlisted tourism nominees and this year we won’t be expecting any different.
Liverpool’s finest business owners and their staff will be out in force, dressed to impress in what is expected to be an exciting black-tie event.
