We are absolutely delighted to announce that our amazing hotel will feature on a new fly-on-the-wall style TV documentary, produced by Spun Gold TV for the BBC. They were the company behind the BBC One documentary A Very Modern Grand Hotel, which followed the staff of London’s exclusive Corinthia Hotel. As a hotel ourselves, we were fascinated to watch the ins-and-outs of such a marvellous establishment – and we’re honoured to have been asked to take part in something similar.
The show, entitled ‘A Very Northern Hotel’, will take viewers through our lobby, down our corridors and into our lives to give viewers a glimpse into the daily life of what we’re proud to call one of the most popular hotels in Liverpool! We cater for such a wide variety of guests, from wedding parties to couple’s getaways – but what we’re most famous for are our big party rooms on the top floor that sleep up to 24 guests. From the OMG to WTF rooms, to the Garden of Eden and the Jungle Rooms, we think BBC One viewers are in for a treat.
The show will follow our dedicated staff and new General Manager as they navigate one of the busiest periods of the year. As the BBC has reported in their first press release regarding the documentary, running a hotel, managing large groups and making sure each and every one of our fabulous guests has a wonderful time does not come easy. All within one weekend, we could be hosting a large family wedding, 50th wedding anniversary, baby shower and even a high-octane, high-energy hen-do.
It’s imperative they all feel extra special, without each other’s occasions running into one another!
Regarding the new show, Clare Sillery who is the Head of Commissioning, Documentaries, says,
“We hope this film set in the Shankly Hotel will tell us something about aspiration in Britain today, by looking at how families from every walk of life choose to celebrate and mark the biggest events of their lives.”
