There’s never a dull moment in November: from firework fiestas for Bonfire Night to seasonal festivities kick-starting the most wonderful time of the year, family-friendly events are happening all over Merseyside in the penultimate month of 2018.

Where: Isla Gladstone Conservatory

Avoid the crowds at the Mersey fireworks display and opt instead for this family-friendly event at the Isla Gladstone Conservatory to enjoy professional fireworks alongside live entertainment in the North of the city. Watch the Mersey light up with fireworks for the River of Light Festival

Where: Liverpool Waterfront and New Brighton

Head down to Liverpool’s waterfront for a fiesta of Fireworks on Sunday 4 November, as the River of Light festival swings into town.

A collaboration between Culture Liverpool and Wirral Council, this annual event sees the skies above the Mersey lit up with two majestic firework displays from barges in the Mersey and the Fort Perch Rock in the Wirral. Free to attend, you can also catch art installations, street performances and light attractions at both locations. All fireworks start at 6:30pm but visitors are advised to head down by 5pm. Join the commemorations for Armistice 100 with an evening of music

Where: Museum of Liverpool

Commemorate the centenary of the First World War with an evening of music and letters at the Museum of Liverpool. Listen to performances from The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, vocal soloist group Voices of Hope, pianist Lauryna Sableviciute and The Honour Choir plus a special performance of a new sound art piece by Stephen Davismoon, remembering the three territorial battalions of the King’s Regiment Liverpool.  The event is free but booking is essential.

Britten’s War Requiem at Liverpool Cathedral

Where: Liverpool Cathedral

Drawing together orchestral musicians and choristers from both Britain and Germany, this profoundly emotional and moving event will see Benjamin Britten’s full War Requiem performed at the Liverpool Cathedral to commemorate when the guns of the first world war fell silent 100 years ago. Conducted by Andrew Manze. Tickets from £19.

Dress up to the nines for a Gatsby Afternoon Tea

When: 11 November

Where: Cunard House

Step into Christmas with Liverpool ONE’s brand new festive event this year, as a giant light spectacular takes over Chavasse park. With a 250-strong choir and a street party happening across the shopping district from 4pm to 8pm, expect plenty of festive fun as the 96-cube light-installation is launched for the yuletide season.

Keep an eye-put for a piano-playing Santa, festive characters roaming around and a special appearance from The Voice Kids 2018 contestant Astrid.  The party will also see the L1 alpine-themed Bar Hϋtte open its doors.

N.B. There won’t be a Liverpool ONE light switch-on this year – the Christmas tree will be illuminated without an event on November 15.
